Mission Info

Juno mission is the second spacecraft in NASA's New Frontiers Program following New Horizons. Juno's mission has been to gain an understanding of the origin and evolution of Jupiter by investigating the existence of a solid planetary core, map the magnetic field, measure the amount of water and ammonia in the deep atmosphere, and observe Jupiter’s auroras.

This primary mission was completed in July 2021. Now in it’s extended mission Juno continues its investigation of the solar system’s largest planet, its rings and moons
